Character du Jour: Borys

“Good, faithful, honest Borys.  He’s been with us since the first adventure has Borys. ‘Course, back then he was just a henchman, carrying our bags and guarding the horses while we plundered the tombs. Then Garrald bit the dust as we were fleeing from that Ogre Zombie, and Borys…… well, he just ran out there bold as anything, covered our asses and skewered that big bugger like he was one of us. He earned his promotion that day, I can tell you. Been one of the team ever since.”

Boyrs is quiet, steadfast and every inch the team player. He feels honoured to be seen as one of the heroes rather than just a lackey, and it still dazzled by the fame and fortune. He still forgets his place and picks up the bags himself rather than kick the henchmen, but he’s learning. He’s well liked by the adventurers and servants alike and his simple charm tends to put even the most hardened stranger at ease.

Dirty Little Secret: Borys is a clone grown in the Gnome Vats of Thoon using complex Create Minion rituals. He’s currently acting against his “programming” and it’s only a matter of time before the Gnomes come and offer the adventurers a replacement.

Notes: Henchmen. Providing instant replacement characters since 1977.

“Gnome Vats of Thoon” — are you sure you didn’t mean the Bene Tleilax axotl tanks? :)

Another interesting concept. It throws a unexpected twist into the inner-conflict hook.

Indeed. Plot twists can come in all sorts of interesting shapes and sizes, after all.
