Character du Jour: Lord Mollin of Shadowar
“You do know he’s not a real Lord, don’t you?” the Dwarf nudged the Half-Elf, who almost slipped from the bench with the force of the blow. “Won the title at cards he did. ‘Course, he says it was all fair an’ square, but there’s folks out there who still can’t walk proper after the fight that followed.”
He gave a huge belch. “I know. I woz there.”

Mollin, as he’s known to his friends and those of higher rank, was once plain Jarick Esevnar, petty rogue and conman until a lucky break at cards gave him title and access to the richer things in life. He carries himself every inch the aristocrat and is familiar with all the airs and graces of noble life. Only his closest, longest friends know him as Jarick, but they’re not exactly the secretive type.
Dirty Little Secret: Jarick/Mollin really is a Lord – just not the Lord he’s claiming to be. Before the coming of the Antimage, Jarick was Lord Esevnar of Castle Vale. When his lands were overrun by the Antimage’s forces, Jarick escaped to take his wife – the half-elven Lady Pariana – to safety at his cousin’s estate. On his return Jarick was accused of cowardice and fleeing the battlefield. His cousin, Baron Mehlion, denied everything and hinted that the “cowardly” Jarick had even killed his own wife. Stripped of his title and lands (which were awarded to the Baron), Jarick took to the road as a vagabond and mercenary. He won the new title of Lord Mollin legitimately – he never cheats at cards – on a whim, though sees the potential the new title will bring when he is ready to confront his turncoat cousin. Only the especially observant will notice that Mollin’s knowledge, etiquette and behaviour is just a little too polished for someone who is merely supposed to be acting a role; he was born to this life.
Lord Mollin’s weapon of choice is a Small Sword. This is light thrusting sword is worn as the mark of noble status and counts in all respects as a Short Sword (proficiency, damage, etc).
