IdioticSoftwareLicenseOfTheDay: iTunes can be used to make nuclear weapons. It's official.
EULAs. We all see ‘em. We all ignore ‘em.
We know they’re a bunch of legalese crock that probably wouldn’t stand up in court, and more likely be laughed out for being over-encompassing, over-protective and downright dumb. But some are more stupid than others.
Here’s a corker from the iTunes EULA (link to .pdf):
- You agree that you will not use these products for … the development, manufacture or production of missiles, or nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.
It’s under Section 8 – Export if you care to check.
I don’t know whether to be impressed or appalled. I mean…. wow. I had no idea iTunes could even be used to make nuclear weapons. That probably explains why it takes 100% CPU time and locks the computer totally just to write ID tags to my music. It’s secretly destabilizing uranium in the background.
It all makes sense now.
I can picture all those iPod wielding terrorists playing Lily Allen at full volume until we surrender and stop raping their countries/oil reserves/women/children* (delete where applicable, depending on your US State of origin)
Heck, I’d surrender.
So there you have it. iTunes. Average music player, with added nuclear capability. Which you can’t use. The EULA says so.
