‘Tis the season to eat Spam
For some strange reason, both this blog and my older, but still live-archived blog (last updated Sept ‘04) has been lightly spammed over the last few days. Nothing exciting to write home about, just a few comments here and there, and both duely locked down.
People who spam fall into the narrow category of folks it’s ok to torture. Really, don’t bother asking them any difficult questions (like “what’s your name?” or “Does this hurt?”), just torture them for fun. Leave me in a room with a known spammer, a few hot irons and a roaring fire and I’ll be as happy as Larry for a few hours.
Spam is theft on a MASSIVE scale and should be treated as such. Each spammer steals billions of dollars/pounds/lira of bandwidth and storage space every single day from people all over the world, just because they can, and the math makes it financially attractive. There’s no need for “new legislation” or any other claptrap. Theft is theft, plain and simple. Throw the book at them. Better yet, fire the book at them from a large cannon.
The question I have though, is why the upsurgence of spam now? Do more people suddenly need Viagra at Christmas-time, or is it a ploy to pull in the last minute “don’t know what to buy for Uncle Cecil I know I’ll get him some stiffy pills” crowd.
The mind boggles.
