They keep coming back in a bloodthirsty lust for HUMAN FLESH!
I’ve just walked two miles under a moonlit sky whilst watching George A. Romero’s classic 1968 Night of the Living Dead on my Ipaq.
Picture, if you will, a lone narrow lane beset on either side by ancient naked trees sihouetted in the pale silver light, open fields to either side and nothing but the sounds of nature for company. Now imagine me trudging up that road watching one of the best horror movies ever made.

(Tecnical aside: This feat was made possible due to the wonderful Public Domain Movie DB and the TCPMP Pocket PC avi player. A full length movie at (very watchable) Pocket PC resolution is around 100Mb in size. Pop in a 512Mb CF card and you’ve around 15 hours of movietime in there!)
Using the Ipaq was a darned good plan. Not only did it keep me amused while walking, it also served double duty at a bit of glow to alert the occasional car driver before they tried to mow me down. Clever things, Ipaqs.
I’m not a fan of schlock horror movies as a rule. Seen one head being ripped off, seen them all. What I like about NotLD (me, too lazy to type Night of the Living Dead again) is that it focuses on the people so we see how dirrefent folks react in a crisis. A large part of the horror comes from their faces and emotions.
People. That’s the true horror. Mind you, the trees during my walk were pretty scary too
