I’ve just watched the first episode of Firefly and I love it! I like the simple understatedness of the first ep. It’s not trying to hard, not trying to explain too much, not giving too much away. Just enough hooks to reel me in. No sledgehammers here. Comapred to this, the pilot epoiside of ST:Next Generation (giant jellyfishes anyone?) was a sledgehammer round the chops.
Love Firefly. Now we have to go watch Serenity!
Also, we watched Chronicles or Riddick last night. OK, but Pitch Black was more fun. I think the script writers for Riddick have read too many classics in the meantime and just used Riddick as an excuse to show off their literary skills. Here’s a brief rundown of the plot: Macbeth meets Julius Caesar, Helen of Troy dies, Conan gets crowned king. There. I’ve spoilt it for you now
Oh, and a word to the custome department: doesn’t wear grey skull-motif outfits. That’s soo 1970s. And Evil folks would never, ever call themselves Necromongers. Ever.
